Electric cooktop not heating: one zone or the whole surface?
Electric stove or cooktop burner not heating? Identify the affected zone, controls and cookware, then request an assessment without opening the appliance.

Identify the appliance and affected zone.
An electric range combines a stove-top cooking surface and an oven, while a separate cooktop is installed in a counter. For electric range repair, identify whether the fault affects a surface zone or the oven compartment. Note whether one zone, several zones or the controls have changed; describe an oven concern separately rather than assuming that every function has the same cause.
Check the normal controls and cookware guidance.
Use the owner’s manual for ordinary control-lock, zone-selection and cookware instructions. Make sure the selected control corresponds to the intended zone. Smooth-top cookware should have a suitable flat base; an induction model also needs induction-compatible cookware. These are normal-use checks, not instructions to lift the glass, remove a burner or inspect wiring.
A radiant element cycling on and off can be normal. Describe the cooking result and what changed instead of judging the appliance only by whether an element glows continuously.
Know when to stop using it.
Stop using a cracked glass surface or a zone that will not switch off normally. Do not lift the glass, remove an element, open wiring covers or keep resetting a breaker that trips. Arrange an assessment rather than trying to identify a failed electrical part yourself.
Include the details that help plan the visit.
For example: “The front-right zone no longer heats; the other zones work. It is a separate glass cooktop with touch controls.” Add the brand, accessible model number and any display message. Choose the closest issue, or Other / Not sure, to request a preferred visit.
Describe the pattern before choosing a part.
A zone that does not recognise a suitable pan is different from a zone with responsive controls but no heat. Note what the display showed and whether the other zones worked during ordinary cooking. Cookware, normal control settings and the heating or control system may need different checks; opening the cooktop is not part of preparing a request.
Your questions, answered.
Can I request repair for just one cold cooking zone?
Yes. Select Electric Cooktop and describe the affected zone, whether the controls respond and whether the other zones work. Mention an oven problem separately if this is the cooking surface of an electric range.
Why does an induction zone flash instead of heating?
On some models, unsuitable cookware, pan size or pan position can prevent normal heating. Follow the cookware and display guidance in your model’s manual. A flashing display by itself does not identify a failed electronic component.
Should I lift the cooktop to find the model label?
No. Use paperwork or an accessible label if available. Leave the glass, counter mounting and electrical covers in place. You can request service with the brand and symptoms, then discuss model identification and access with us.
