Electric oven not heating: bake, broil or both?

Wall oven or electric range oven not heating? Compare bake, broil, controls and ordinary settings before arranging electric oven repair.

Stainless steel electric oven

Start with the selected cooking mode.

For wall oven repair or an electric range oven fault, first record the selected cooking mode and temperature. A delayed-start option, control lock or demonstration setting can affect operation on models that provide it. Consult your exact model’s manual rather than using another appliance’s button sequence. A lit display or oven light does not establish that the heating system is working. Manufacturer guidance: Whirlpool: model-dependent electric oven controls and delayed start.

Separate bake, broil and surface cooking.

Electric stove surface burners and the oven compartment perform different jobs. If the cooktop works but the oven does not heat, describe the oven fault under Oven. If a surface zone is the concern, choose Electric Cooktop. Note whether bake, broil or both changed during ordinary use; do not run repeated heat tests or open an electrical cover to decide which repair to request.

For a double oven, identify the upper or lower cavity. If heat is present but the result is uneven, choose Uneven cooking or Temperature problem instead. You do not need to run extra tests before requesting help.

Leave electrical checks to the assessment.

Heating elements, temperature sensing, controls and the electrical supply may need different checks. Do not remove the back panel, bridge a fuse or test live terminals. Stop using an appliance with scorching, sparking or repeated breaker trips.

The full model number helps identify the correct configuration. Include it if accessible, along with the failed cooking mode and any display message; we explain the proposed repair before proceeding.

Explain missing heat separately from uneven cooking.

An oven that never begins heating, an oven that stops during cooking and an oven that heats unevenly are different complaints. Note the mode and cavity involved during the last normal use. Settings, elements, temperature sensing, controls and supply may require different checks. The condition of one element or a working light cannot establish the complete cause; the assessment comes before a replacement-part decision.

Your questions, answered.

Can the stove burners work while the electric oven fails?

Yes. Surface cooking and the oven are separate functions. Choose Oven for bake, broil or cavity-temperature problems, and describe any surface-zone problem separately. Working burners do not rule out an oven fault.

What should I report for a double wall oven?

Say whether the upper cavity, lower cavity or both are affected, and which cooking mode changed. Include the accessible model and any code. Leave the installed oven in place; access and proposed work are reviewed with you.

Should I keep running heat tests before booking?

No repeated tests are needed. Use observations from normal cooking and check only ordinary settings in your model’s manual. Stop using an appliance that sparks, scorches or repeatedly trips a breaker, and leave electrical checks to assessment.
