Washer not draining? Details that help us help you.

Washing machine not draining or spinning? Compare water left in the drum, spin settings and load behaviour before arranging washer repair.

Front-loading washer installed in a bright laundry room

Describe the water left behind.

First distinguish visible water in the drum from wet clothes after the water has drained. A washer that will not drain and a washing machine that will not spin can leave similar results, but they are different service concerns. Low or no-spin settings can leave clothes wetter by design; record the selected cycle and spin option rather than assuming that the motor or pump failed.

If both draining and spinning seem affected, mention both. You do not need to work out the cause or select a replacement part before booking washing machine repair. Manufacturer guidance: Whirlpool: spin settings and wet-load symptoms.

Note where the cycle stops.

Note the last cycle stage the washer reaches, the load type and the exact displayed message. An uneven or overloaded load can affect spinning; follow your own model’s loading guidance and never force a locked door or lid. A recurring drainage or spin fault still needs assessment. Share existing observations instead of repeatedly running a failing cycle. Manufacturer guidance: Whirlpool: washing-machine drainage guidance.

  • Does the machine stop during washing, rinsing or the final spin?
  • Is there an error message or a new sound?
  • Does the problem happen on every cycle or only occasionally?
  • Was there recent installation, moving or plumbing work?

Tell us about the installation.

Include the brand and whether the washer loads from the front or top. The model number is helpful if it is readily accessible. Mention if the washer is stacked under a dryer, in a closet or in a basement.

Leave the machine in place and discuss access with us. If the door remains locked with water inside, do not force it open. You can select “Door locked shut” on the washer repair page and add the drainage problem to your description.

Request a visit without the guesswork.

A useful description might be: “My front-loading washer stopped before the final spin. Water is still visible in the drum and the display shows an error.” Add the exact code if you can see it.

Select Not draining to start a request with that symptom included, then choose your preferred date and window. We contact you to confirm the appointment and explain the assessment and proposed repair before work proceeds. You can also call 226-228-6200 to discuss availability.

Why drainage and spinning are checked together.

Spin settings, an unbalanced load and a drainage problem can all leave clothes wetter than expected, but they call for different checks. Water that remains in the drum may involve the drain path, installation or pump operation. Tell us if the washer was recently moved or if the problem began after plumbing work. A locked door or a wet load alone does not establish a pump failure.

Your questions, answered.

Should I choose Not draining or Not spinning?

Choose Not draining when water remains visibly in the drum. If water leaves but the load does not spin as expected, choose Not spinning. If both happen, choose the closest issue and describe both in your request.

Can I force the door open to remove wet clothes?

Do not force a locked door or lid, especially with water still inside. Use only your model’s normal controls and manual guidance. Mention the trapped load and water when arranging service, and leave the machine installed.

Can you assess a washer stacked under a dryer?

Tell us about the stacked installation, the affected washer model if accessible and any access restrictions. Suitability and access are reviewed before confirming the appointment. Do not unstack the pair to prepare your booking.
