APPLIANCE SPECIALISTS · REPAIR GUIDES
Refrigerator not cooling? Tell us what has changed.
Fridge or refrigerator not cooling? Separate compartment symptoms, check ordinary door and loading issues, and prepare a clear repair request.

Identify the affected compartment.
A refrigerator cooling problem can affect the fresh-food compartment, the freezer or both. Tell us which changed and whether it stays warm or improves intermittently. Fridge repair begins with those observations and the model, not an assumed compressor, fan or control-board replacement.
If you already have a temperature reading, include it along with the compartment and when it was taken. You do not need to buy a thermometer or complete a test before contacting us.
Describe the changes you can observe.
Look at ordinary loading and door closure without dismantling the refrigerator. A tray or drawer can keep a door from closing, and tall containers can obstruct an interior air outlet. Follow the model’s loading and temperature-control instructions; those observations do not diagnose a recurring cooling fault. Leave covers, wiring and moving a built-in refrigerator to the assessment. Manufacturer guidance: GE Appliances: cooling, door closure and airflow guidance.
- When did the cooling problem begin, and has it been continuous or intermittent?
- Have you noticed frost, water, an unusual sound or an error code?
- Does the door seem to close normally?
- Did the change follow a move, installation or power interruption?
Keep your request straightforward.
For example: “The fridge compartment has felt warmer since yesterday. The freezer still seems cold. There is frost at the back and no error on the display.” This tells us more than a suspected part name.
Add the brand, model if easily accessible, and whether the refrigerator is freestanding, built in or integrated behind cabinetry. If the main problem is with the ice maker or dispenser, choose that symptom instead and mention whether cooling is also affected.
Arrange the next step.
Choose a cooling problem on our refrigerator repair page to carry it into your service request, or call to discuss the symptoms and availability. Your preferred online appointment is confirmed with you before the visit.
The assessment determines the repair options. We explain the findings and proposed work before proceeding, including any parts or return-visit arrangements.
What might be behind a cooling change?
A door held ajar, obstructed interior airflow or an unsuitable setting can affect cooling during normal use. A recurring fault may also involve airflow, defrosting, controls or the cooling system. The affected compartments and model guide the assessment; a warm fridge with a cold freezer is not enough evidence to order a fan or compressor. Leave covers and built-in access in place.
Your questions, answered.
Does a cold freezer mean the refrigerator section is working properly?
No. The compartments can show different symptoms. Tell us which section changed, whether the problem is steady or intermittent, and any visible frost or display code. That pattern helps guide checks without identifying a failed part in advance.
Do I need a temperature reading before requesting fridge repair?
No. Include a reading if you already have one, along with where and when it was taken. You can request help with your observations alone; do not delay booking to buy equipment or dismantle the appliance.
Can I request urgent help online for a warm fridge?
Yes. Call 226-228-6200 or use Book Online to request today’s availability during our daily 6 AM–9 PM service hours. We confirm the appointment after reviewing your address, appliance and the schedule. Repair completion depends on assessment and any parts needed.
